Creative Writing Editor

Freelance Remote Project-Based

We're looking for a sharp, versatile editor who can work across genres and formats. You'll help shape manuscripts, game writing, documentation, and marketing copy into polished, publish-ready work. The ideal candidate has a strong editorial eye, respects the author's voice, and can switch between fiction, nonfiction, and technical writing with ease.

What You'll Do

  • Perform developmental, line, and copy editing on books, stories, and manuscripts
  • Edit game narratives, rulebooks, and in-game text for clarity and consistency
  • Review and refine technical documentation, guides, and web content
  • Provide constructive feedback that strengthens the work while preserving the author's voice
  • Proofread final drafts for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting
  • Collaborate with writers and project leads to meet deadlines and quality standards

What Sets You Apart

  • Professional editing experience in publishing, games, or content
  • Portfolio or samples demonstrating range across genres or formats
  • Familiarity with style guides (AP, Chicago, or equivalent)
  • Experience editing fiction, nonfiction, or game writing
  • Comfort giving clear, respectful, and constructive feedback
  • Ability to self-manage across multiple projects and deadlines
